Short Biography
Lakis Laftsis was born in 1966 in Alexandroupoli. At the age of twelve he started studying the bouzouki under teacher George Kourpidis.
Early on, he studied theory and harmony at the Apollonio Conservatory. He has participated in numerous concerts for both traditional and modern music in Greece and abroad.
Mr. Laftsis has worked with: Agnes Baltsa, Viki Moscholiou, Stamatis Kokota, Sotiria Bellou, Dionysis Savvopoulos, Chronis Aidonidi, Domna Samiou, Stratos Dionisiou, George Ntalara, John Pario, Haris Alexiou, Christos Nikolopoulo, Ilias Andriopoulos, Vassilis Dimitriou, Thanassis Polycandrioti, Notis Mavroudis, Dimitra Galanis, Marinella, Manolis Mitsias, Vassilis Lekkas, Orpheus Peridi, Venus Manos, Maria Dimitriadi, Maria Soultatoy, Helen Dimou, Melina Kana, Nikos Nomikos, Doukisa, Pitsa Papadopoulou, John Ntounia, Stelios Dionysiou, Costas Macedonas, Dimitri Basi, Elias Makris, Despina Vandi, Thano Kalliri, Litsa Giagkousi, Paschali Arvanitidi, Daki, Sofia Vossou, Constantina etc. He has also participated in various musical works by Greek and foreign composers. Some of these notewhorthy composers include George Fakanas (first presented in Palace, Athens) and Mikis Theodorakis (Zorba) Austria.
He was a member of the State Orchestra Music (KOEM) led by Stavros Xarchakou for six years (1999-2005). Mr. Laftsis played as a first bouzouki in the opening and closing ceremonies of the Athens 2004 Olympic Games.
In 2007 he released a cd titled CASTLE. The cd contains the last 4 years of compositions. Castle is a model for synthetic work worldwide that attempts to connect the bouzouki with classical Baroque music. On August 10, 2008 he gave a recital at the music festival in Godollo, Royal Palace, Baroque Theater of Boudapest where he played a concert of Vivaldi, Etoutes from the staff of the project Castro and a transcription of Seikilou (ancient Greek music) variants Maestro Pal Nemeth with the Savaria Baroque Orchestra under the conduction of Pal Nemeth. He has taken part in music broadcasts on television as a soloist numerous times. He teaches particular courses for the bouzouki and other traditional instruments. Mr. Laftsis is currently participating in concerts world wide.
